Heavy Truck Parts

Overview

The use of thermoplastics for heavy truck parts is ever-increasing. When Brentwood entered the business in the 1970s our focus was interior cab parts, including everything from door panels to dashboard covers. Over time, as the industry gained a better understanding of the forming process and the benefits of lightweight components, they began to request exterior plastic parts to reduce weight and keep their fleets compliant with regulations. This led us to produce a number of custom products, ranging from fenders and splash guards to fasciae and bumpers.

Today, Brentwood leverages over 40 years of forming and specialty materials experience to manufacture parts for both interior and exterior heavy truck applications. We also maintain strong research and development relationships with major resin manufacturers to test new and experimental materials, allowing us to provide customers with the most cutting-edge solutions.

Materials

Choosing the appropriate plastic material for your application is an essential step in developing a successful finished part. Each material has its own characteristics, properties, strengths, and weaknesses. Therefore, there are many factors that can influence material selection, ranging from performance to appearance to cost. By working with you to understand the parameters of your project, we’re able to help you choose the best, most-cost effective method to achieve your goals and meet regulations.

Railway Interior Design

TPO

Thermoplastic Polyolefin is a compounded alloy containing rubber, a blend of polypropylene, and a reinforcing filler. It is a great replacement for metal parts as it provides high impact and chemical resistance.

Railway Interior Design

ABS

This material is manufactured by combining three different compounds: acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene. In addition to its high stiffness factor and creep resistance, ABS is one of the most versatile plastics available.

Railway Interior Design

HDPE

High-density Polyethylene is stronger and stiffer than standard polyethylene with good impact and abrasion resistance.

Railway Interior Design

HIPS

High Impact Polystyrene is a versatile and cost-effective material that is easy to form. Despite its name, HIPS actually provides low impact resistance when compared with other thermoformable materials (it simply has a higher impact rating than other materials in the polystyrene family).

Railway Interior Design

PC

Polycarbonate is extremely durable over a wide temperature range. It also offers high clarity, making it an ideal choice for transparent parts.

Railway Interior Design

PVC

Polyvinyl chloride is stiffer than ABS and features high impact strength and natural flame-retardant qualities.

Certifications

Certifications

ISO/TS 16949:2009

This technical specification is based on the ISO 9001:2008 quality certification but differs slightly in that it relates directly to the automotive industry for the manufacture and assembly of plastic thermoforming products.

ISO/TS 16949:2009

ISO 9001:2008

This certification furthers Brentwood’s dedication to quality, enabling us to produce consistent, top-tier parts that meet your expectations. It includes the design, manufacture, and assembly of plastic thermoforming products and the extrusion, calendering, and punching of semi-flexible thin-film PVC sheets.

ISO 9001:2008

ISO 14001:2004

To create and maintain sustainable business practices, Brentwood has developed an environmental management system that minimizes the effects of our operations on the environment. This includes the design, manufacture, and assembly of plastic thermoforming products; the extrusion, calendering, and punching of semi-flexible thin-film PVC sheets; and the injection molding of plastic products.
