Installation Guidelines for Brentwood AccuGrid

These Installation Guidelines were written by Brentwood Industries, Inc. with the expressed purpose of providing helpful hints and examples for contractors and others to install our AccuGrid® Bio-Grating. These Guidelines are not to be construed as the only Brentwood approved methods for bio-grating installation or the final installation authority.

The text and pictures are for illustrative purposes only, check with the project owner/engineer for their contract/specification requirements.

AccuGrid WG-2424 rectangular grating is designed for use in existing or new rectangular or circular type biological trickling filters. The AccuGrid grating described below shall be as supplied by Brentwood Industries Inc., of Reading, Pennsylvania, U.S.A.

Grid Placement/Assembly
AccuGrid® installation typically starts at the edge of a circular tank or one end of a square/rectangular tank, with the grid placement indicator (notch) oriented to the bottom right or left when placing the grating on the media modules or other surface. The reason we recommend the putting the "notch" on the bottom is that the grid will install much faster. When installed as pictured below, the self-locking tab slides into the self-guiding connections, rather than lifting up each piece of installed grid so the self-guiding connector will fit over the self-guiding tab of the piece being installed. It is also recommended that the grid be put into position while standing on the installed grid and not the top layer of the trickling filter media modules.
Interlocking
Manpower Needs
For estimating purposes, a crew consisting of two or three workers should be able to install and cut into place from 600 to 900 grid panels per day.
Trimming
The following installation pictures illustrate how the grating can be trimmed to fit the circumference of the tank and can be done with a circular saw or ordinary wire/tin cutters/snips.

Waste Disposal
Any leftover pieces from trimming may be disposed in normal trash or landfilled, as it is manufactured from non-hazardous materials.

All of the information, observations, and recommendations provided in these guidelines are being furnished only as a matter of general information and are not in any way intended as a guarantee on the part of Brentwood Industries, Inc., Reading, PA.
