• ACCUVENT SYSTEM |

Brentwood Industries, Inc. is excited to announce its patented AccuVent attic ventilation baffle.
AccuVent is a one-piece baffle and wind-block designed to meet the demands of innovative insulation professionals, general contractors and architects alike.
Government studies have for years referenced the need for an effective wind-block along with a ventilation baffle for every rafter opening. The data showed that in the absence of an attached wind-block, air moving up through the soffit would easily enter the insulation layer, increasing energy loss and allowing moisture to condense and mold and mildew to develop. Old style foam and cardboard vents alone do nothing to prevent these failures. AccuVent is stapled to the inside lip of the top-plate and then curves up and is stapled to the roof sheeting (a total of 6 staples per AccuVent) to provide a ventilation path up and over the insulation blanket. AccuVent meets the new EnergyStar Thermal Bypass Checklist.
It is important to note that AccuVent is flexible and easily adapts to any pitch and any heel. This is critical to insure that the full insulation layer gets out and over the top-plate. Other vents may appear similar but all suffer from a lack of flexibility that prevents them from accommodating variations in heel and pitch and thus compromise r-value.
AccuVents are available for both 16” and 24” rafters for both traditional and cathedral ceiling applications. Brentwood selected a 100% recycled, flame retardant plastic for the AccuVent family of vents. The plastic is blended to be resistant to cracking at low temperatures and will not support mold or mildew growth.
Additionally, AccuVent is ideally suited for all types of Spray Foam insulation methods. For ventilated traditional or cathedral applications the foam can be applied directly… AccuVent is unaffected by the chemical and thermal characteristics of the rapidly expanding foam and its overall design will not distort as the foam expands to its full dimension. Foam and cardboard baffles cannot offer this type of performance.
In situations where a non-ventilated attic is required, many Spray Foam contractors are increasing their speed and efficiency of installation by using the AccuVent as a “spray template” instead of creating a time consuming “soft-wall” from the top-plate to the roof sheeting.
AccuVent is bundled with a simple packing strap, 50 vents to a bundle… no extraneous bags or boxes to dispose of at the job site. They are shipped efficiently at 2800 vents per 40” high pallet, which is equivalent to 4 to 5 pallets of foam or cardboard vents. A real help for warehousing and transportation costs.
